Normal Density Planting
NORMAL DENSITY PLANTING SCHEME

The Normal Density Planting Method is a conventional approach in which cashew grafts are planted at a spacing of 7 meters x 7 meters, allowing for a population of 200 plants per hectare. Under this scheme, KSACC distributes the grafts to farmers free of cost.

Financial assistance is provided at the rate of ₹100 per plant, including the cost of grafts. The subsidy is released in three consecutive yearly installments in the ratio of 60:20:20, subject to the availability of funds. The first installment is paid after planting and field verification. The second installment is provided in the second year, based on a minimum 75% survival rate of the grafts, and the third in the third year after ensuring 90% stocking of the plants.

Farmers must possess a minimum of one acre of land to be eligible for the subsidy.

High Density Planting
HIGH DENSITY PLANTING SCHEME

The High Density Planting Method is a modern approach developed by Kerala Agricultural University to address land constraints while improving productivity. In this method, cashew grafts are planted at 5 meters x 5 meters spacing, accommodating 400 plants per hectare.

Grafts are provided free of cost, and a subsidy of ₹100 per plant is given in three yearly installments of 60:20:20. The first installment is issued post-planting and verification. The second installment requires 75% survival in the second year, and the third is granted in the third year upon achieving 90% survival of the previously surviving plants.

The scheme is applicable to farmers with a minimum of one acre of plain land..

Ultra High Density Planting
ULTRA HIGH-DENSITY PLANTING SCHEME

The Ultra High Density Planting Method is a more intensive form of cultivation aimed at achieving maximum yield per unit area. Cashew grafts are planted at a reduced spacing of 3 meters x 3 meters, resulting in a plant population of approximately 1100 plants per hectare.

This scheme is ideal for farmers looking to optimize small landholdings with advanced cultivation techniques. The grafts are supplied free of cost. The financial assistance and survival-based installment structure are similar to those of the normal and high density schemes, although detailed subsidy provisions may be finalized in line with departmental guidelines.

Muttathoru Kasumavu
MUTTATHORU KASUMAVU (CASHEW IN EVERY HOUSEHOLD)

The Muttathoru Kasumavu initiative is a public outreach program launched by KSACC to promote cashew cultivation beyond traditional farmlands. The scheme aims to distribute cashew grafts free of cost to individuals and institutions in residential and semi-urban settings.

Beneficiaries include Kudumbashree units, MGNREGS workers, school and college students, residents, and public institutions. The initiative encourages planting cashew in home yards, educational campuses, and public spaces. It seeks to make cashew cultivation a part of everyday life by fostering community participation and environmental awareness.
